Workshops for fusers and stained glass makers

These workshops are for those who've done some stained glass or glass fusing already and wish to develop their skills. These sessions cover some common areas of difficulty.
The workshops incude lots of practical exercises as well as some theory to help you understand the subect better.

All workshops are £12 for Vitreus Art Glass Club members or £39 for others (including VAT).
Places are limited to 6 per workshop. All materials and refreshments are included.

Half-Day Setting Up Your Glass Studio Mini Workshop (for anyone at any level)

On this session you'll discover all of the tools, materials and resources needed to start in copper foiling or stained glass leading.

We'll also review the essential tools needed for glass cutting in a fused glass studio.

We'll review all of the essential tools, look at the maintenance needed, and test out different glass cutters and breaking tools. A printed list of tools needed will be included. We'll also cover the gadgets you may be tempted to buy which you don't really need!

Half-day Cutting Circles in Glass mini workshop - for those who have done glass cutting before

Learn the different methods of cutting circles in glass, and discover which methods to use for different fusing or stained glass uses. You must have done some basic glass cutting before to join this session. We'll look at circle cutters and hand cutters and follow plenty of practical exercises.

Half-day Glass Fusing Firing Schedules Refresher - for fusers keen to move away from pre-built schedules

We'll cover the basics of firing schedules, learning when your kiln's pre-programmed schedules aren't suitable and look at some key scenarios that need a deeper understanding of glass behaviour when firing.

Half-day Stained glass Soldering Refresher class

Suitable for stained glass makers who are ready to improve their soldering.

We'll start with demonstrations of the essential techniques, and looking at how to deal with problem areas.
You'll work on pre-foiled exercises, with feedback on progress throughout.

We'll share some of our secrets, and encourage you to put these techniques in to practice on your own work at home.
Towards the end of the workshop you'll experiment with patinas, learning about preparation and application, and cleaning for the best end result.

Our one day classes are suitable for anyone over 18, although we do advise that anyone with a medical condition that limits their hand strength or control contact us before booking to discuss.
