Linocut & More - Printing without a Press
One day workshop for beginners with Clare Tebboth

"I had great fun and loved the friendly, informal atmosphere.  Would love to do more courses!" - Kay

Print making Taster Day
This course explores printmaking in an accessible and fun way.  We will experiment with different printing techniques which can all be achieved without a printing press.
No previous experience is necessary.

We will cover the basics of printmaking and experiment with a range of techniques including: mono printing, gelli plate, polystyrene and lino cut printing.
You will leave with a selection of printing samples, some finished pieces and hopefully a new artistic interest!

All materials will be provided; however, you will need to wear overalls or old clothes as you may get messy.  Please bring several sheets of white tissue paper or plain newsprint to lay your still wet finished prints between in order to transport them home.

You may like to bring some images or photos as inspiration for your printmaking.  Simple motifs are very effective.

The following themes work well: Seaside, Still life, Birds and insects, flowers

You will learn:

  • The possibilities of several different ways you can print without a press
  • To think about forming images using reduction and layer processes
  • How to have fun and explore new ideas!

You will need:

  • Please wear old clothes as you may get messy; an apron is provided
  • Please bring sheets of newspaper
  • Some ideas for what you'd like to print!

The course cost of £140 inc VAT per person includes:

  • Starter materials
  • Use of tools and apron
  • Maximum class size 5 people for maximum attention
  • Several different methods of printing
  • Printed info sheet to keep with details of materials and techniques
  • All your work to take home
