Introduction to Glass Fusing for Beginners
One day workshop with Vitreus Art- Fusion/Inclusion

"Most enjoyable day - want to do more" . - Gill, Class attendee

Discover the world of glass fusing on our one-day introduction we call 'Fusion/Inclusion'
Make your own fused glass art using coloured frits, metal wires and foils, stencils and other 'inclusions' - with no glass cutting required!

On this class you will learn about the fusing process, the basics of glass compatibility, use of coloured frits and other inclusion materials.
You will also get a glimpse in to how we'll use our kiln to fire your pieces!

Using pre-cut clear glass you will add different colours of glass frit, copper wire, tin foil, etc to one layer of glass – these inclusions will then be enclosed beneath a second layer, creating a glass sandwich, ready to be fused in the kiln!

You will have the opportunity to make either 3 wall or window hanging pieces or 6 coaster sized pieces. You are welcome to bring sketches, ideas, or internet pages to use as your design elements. Most importantly bring an open mind!

As the firing takes many hours, your pieces will be available to collect a few days after the course. Alternatively we can post your pieces for a small extra charge.

On the day
The class starts at 10-30 am with health & safety guidelines; please a little before to allow for introductions and a hot drink.
The class ends at around 5pm, but don’t worry - we won’t send you home until all your glass pieces are ready to go in to the kiln!

The course cost of £159 inc VAT includes:

  • All materials including fusible glass, frit and other inclusions
  • A selection of starter ideas (or please bring your own ideas!)
  • Use of all tools and apron
  • Refreshments during the session including herbal teas, decaffeinated drinks & gluten-free biscuits
  • Lunch from the Bell Cafe
  • Maximum class size 5 people
  • Eligibility for our Project Day Programme
  • All your work to take home (after firing!)
  • Class runs from 10-30am to 5pm approximately at our Northants studio just outside Towcester
