The five-day course

Join experienced stained glass artists Jenny Timms & Mike Caddy for this 5-day creative workshop holiday in historic Porthleven from October 15th - 19th 2012.

Ideal for beginners or those with some glasswork experience, the class begins with tuition using simple designs to gain the key skills - cutting, grinding, foiling or leading and soldering.

As your confidence builds, you’ll work on more challenging designs, or design a larger panel yourself - with guidance and encouragement available throughout.

Whether you want to try leading, foiling, or both, or have a larger project in mind, you’ll find our course a fun and supportive environment in which to be creative.

The course takes place in a converted lifeboat house with the unmistakable presence
of the sea all around - so there’ll be plenty of inspiration to draw on!
There's lots of space and light, and a huge variety of glass to work with, for your own designs or some of ours.

The class fee of £435 per student includes:

  • All materials and glass for the week
  • Use of pro-quality tools and protective clothing
  • A range of designs to work on, and the option to design your own projects
  • Advice in advance of the class on your projects
  • Teaching tailored to your experience, learning style and aspirations
  • 2 tutors, maximum class size 10
  • Stained glass garden-panel sessions and etching workshops
  • Refreshments during the day
  • Comprehensive info pack to keep with information on getting started
  • All your pieces to take home

About Porthleven

Situated near The Lizard, and less than 20 miles from St Ives, Porthleven is a great place to stay.
Workshop guests can take an optional half or whole day visit to St Michael’s Mount, The Tate Gallery or blow away the cobwebs with a breathtaking walk along the cliffs.

In the evenings, there is a good selection of pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
We’ve negotiated a discount with a local holiday-cottage company offering a wide range of high-quality self-catering accommodation; there are several B&Bs and a local guest house near the harbour too.

Non-artist partners will find plenty to do as well, with boating and fishing, golf, rugged coastal scenery and indoor diversions available.
One partner of a student in October 2011 said it was the best holiday he'd had for years!
