Oil Painting - One Day Introduction with Clare Tebboth
1 day course, suitable for absolute beginners and those with some experience in painting in other mediums.

On this one-day workshop we will explore the subject of oil painting, covering materials, techniques, and how to continue developing after the class.
Learn to paint in oils in a relaxing, friendly environment with tuition and support from experienced painter and art teacher Clare Tebboth.

The one-day workshop will cover:

  • An overview of the oil painting materials you'll need to get started
  • Care of brushes and palette
  • Guidance on basic colour mixing and composition
  • You will create several small paintings on canvas paper using the alla prima technique which enables artists to complete a painting in one sitting
  • Subject matter for the workshop will include a simple still life and small landscape from images provided by Clare

Students are asked to bring:

  • Clothes you don't mind getting paint on (aprons will be provided)
  • Rags or wipes to clean brushes and hands
  • A wide tray or fruit box and newspaper to lay in the book of your car to transport your wet oil paintings home (they will take some time to dry fully)

The course cost £150 inc VAT per person includes:

  • Use of oil paints, brushes, canvas paper and low-odour solvent
  • All your own oil paintings to take home
  • Small class sizes, as with all our art classes
  • Visors and widely spaced sanitized workspaces
  • An opportunity to make creative new friends!
  • Lunch and refreshments are included
  • Class runs from 10am to 4-00pm (approx)

This class is led by Clare Tebboth - a professional artist and qualified teacher. 
Clare works in a variety of mediums in her own studio and teaches a number of highly-rated art classes at Vitreus Art.

After enjoying this class you may like to consider joining Clare's 5 or 6 session painting and drawing course, covering a different subject or method each week, held on Friday mornings or afternoons.

About Clare Tebboth

Clare works predominantly in oils, her loose style making use of both brushes and palette knives.  She enjoys the richness of oil paint and the luxurious finish it gives to paintings.
Having grown up in Norfolk and enjoying frequent childhood trips to windswept beaches, her work is often based around the sea and the special mood that a wintry beach creates..

Clare has 25 years experience teaching and has a reputation for fun and productive art workshops. Clare welcomes commissions and enjoys working with clients to create unique pieces of artwork.

She is a Professional Associate of The Society of All Artists and Chair of Buckingham Art for All.
